Fishing with Randy and Tara

Half day in the western Everglades. Randy caught snook, mayan cichlid, and gar. We saw some huge snook but couldn't get them to eat.(cold front)

Peacock Bass fishing with Harald and his son Winston. It was a mixed bag day: mayan cichlids, largemouth bass, oscars,and peacock bass. Winston really wore out the cichlids and managed to get a beautiful peacock bass at the end of the day. Fun day with a couple of great guys.

Everglades National Park

September 20, 2018

I fished with long-time/friend client David. He graciously let me do the majority of the fishing. I landed 7 or 8 small snook(8-14") plus one nice fish about 23". We finished strong as I landed a good sized juvenile tarpon(8 lbs?) I got some of that fight on video,too.

Fished for trout near Boone, NC. Very tough, low water fishing. Only hooked one trout. It will be nice to get back to the Everglades and some aggressive fish!

Sunny, 89, light winds, heavy morning rain early

Fished for a few hours west of Miami. I landed 1 peacock bass(13"), 3 largemouth bass to 14", and a couple of mayan cichlids.

Sunny, 92 degrees, humid,

incoming morning tide, no mosquitoes.

Fished with Randy B. He landed 5 small tarpon up to ten lbs. several snook, and a few cichlids.

A really big alligator tried to eat one of the tarpon, that was a close call!(got it on video)Tara took some nice photos of the day's adventure. We found most of the fish where there was moving water.

Fly: white deer hair slider, size 2

7wt rod, sink tip line(purple fly) and a floating line on the second rod(white fly)

August 16, 2018.

Sunny, high of 90 degrees, no mosquitoes, just a few annoying deer flies.

Scouting trip in the 'glades.

Landed two tarpon, broke one big one off, also landed several small snook. 

Fly: size 4, white and chartreuse deer hair diver, black deer hair diver(early morning choice), size 4.

Rod: 7 weight, floating line
